A man in a pink button up shirt stands by a bar, while a furry woman tries to talk to him. Around them and on two stories above them, other furry men and women dance and chat.ALT
A man with wraparound shades and a rifle holster holds a pint while leaning into his bartender's personal space. Around them is a bar filled with eight aliens, covering six different species. One of them is half-hidden at the bar, but looks very similar to a xenomorph from the Alien movies.ALT
A crowd of aliens and one human man are all at a packed space bar, with the Bud Light brand name visible on a neon sign, a beer can, and a beer tap. There are a number of sly references to science fiction and fantasy, including a Cylon from "Battlestar Galactica" and the spacesuit and Space Jockey character design from the film "Alien." The Robot from "Lost In Space" (having been slightly retooled) is also featured as is Thulsa Doom's helmet from "Conan The Barbarian," an alien in the background that resembles "The Thing" and various other alien creatures. The character holding the Bud Light can is dressed as Schwarzenegger's Terminator, but bears a strong resemblance to 1980's actor Michael Beck.ALT

I missed a few Space Crowd Saturdays, so here's a catchup post featuring three sleazy cyberpunk bars: Barclay Shaw's 1990 cover art for Illegal Alien, by James Luceno; James Warhola's 1987 cover art for Tales from the Spaceport Bar, edited by Darrell Schweitzer and George H. Scithers; and an 80s-era Bud Light promo poster by Gary Ruddel.

Two of these three artworks appear to have references to the Alien franchise in them, marking another insight into the Space Crowd trope: Artists occasionally use the format to sneak in references and in-jokes. (Check my alt text for more info on that)
